Tuatha Érenn
(The Tuatha of Ériu)
Prior the Tudor conquest of Ireland, our people lived in economically self-sufficient communities known as tuatha. Under the customary law now known as Brehon law, the families of a tuath elected their taoiseach (leader) to protect them and never to rule them. Ultimate authority, lay with those families themselves and nobody could be lawfully compelled to do anything that they did not consent to. Neither by the taoiseach nor the provincial kings nor the high king.
The passing of the land of the Irish people into the jurisdiction of the Tudors and later James I was done under duress and was not lawful under the law of this land. The corporation known as GOVERNMENT OF IRELAND, rather than returning the land of the people to its original rightful jurisdiction, has merely continued administering the country on behalf of hidden forces whose interests are contrary to those of the people of Ireland. Its courts continue to operate a punitive, arbitrary system that is alien to the nature of Gaelic people. Successive governments betray promises made before their election only to implement policies that were never included in their manifestos and claim that they have a mandate to do so.
Far from being a free people, the Irish people are now, once again, in a condition of oppressive vassalage. The state steals ever more of the productivity of the people in the form of income tax, VAT, excise and duty and countless other spurious taxes. It interferes in the affairs of families and corrupts the children through its education system. It enables foreign and domestic bankers and financiers in the plundering the wealth and even the dwellings of Irish families. It dares to determine whether and under what conditions a family may build a home on their own land. it arbitrarily restricts the availability of land to build houses in the middle of a housing crisis. It bullies and intimidates the people into paying for permission to use the roads that are their own rightful inheritance and that have been paid for many times over. In disputes with the state, the state's own courts adjudicate. It used the state broadcaster and subsidised media to terrorise the people into staying in their homes, neglecting their loved ones and injecting experimental, untested chemicals on the basis of an illness that was never shown to be any more severe than the common flu. It used its policy enforcers to coerce and intimidate those who would not comply with these egregious overreaches of power. It currently endeavours to abolish neutrality and sacrifice our young men and women in wars in faraway places against people who have not harmed us. The State has clearly failed and abused the trust placed in it by the people.
Tuatha Érenn seeks to offer an alternative to the people of Ireland. It does not seek to overthrow the state. It does not claim jurisdiction over the territory of Ireland. It does not engage in any seditious activity. Unlike the state, it acts with transparency in all its dealings. It does not claim to speak for the people of Ireland. It speaks only for those who choose to place their trust in it and to enter into covenant with it. It is opposed to all forms of violence other than that used in self-defense.
The 1919 Declaration of Independence is a precedent for Irish people declaring their right to self-determination. We, the founding members of Tuatha Érenn, choose now to demonstrate that right for ourselves and for those who covenant with the body. Together, we will create an alternative to the current status quo based on the best aspects of Gaelic culture. We will create our own courts based on the old brehon principles of “restitution not retribution”. In so far as possible the body will act as a shield between the men and women of the body and the courts of the state and many of us have have had successes in this regard.
We will challenge all claims of authority by the state to which we have not consented. We will challenge all claims of state authority over land held by the families of Tuatha Érenn. We will challenge all claims by the state to the fruits of their labour. The body has been designed so that neither it, nor any of its organs, will ever be able to compel any man or woman to do anything to which they have not explicitly consented.
